Why you should visit Utah instead of Iceland
Utah is one of the most underrated destinations of US. A part of me says let it be that way this way it doesn’t become Iceland or Switzerland
Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I think I’d say you would agree. The over tourism in Switzerland is to be blamed on Indian movies that were shot here in the 80s & 90s. The over tourism in Iceland is to be blamed on people like me ( https://www.instagram.com/travel_with_donny/ )or millennials who wouldn’t mind sharing their lives on Instagram or Tik Tok. Golden Circle is no longer Golden instead its filled with Tour buses, Paid Parking lots, Soup & Hotdog stands. Not too long ago it wasn’t this way. In fact I remember being the only person at Skogafoss when I visited this majestic waterfalls the first time in my life. This was around year 2008, sounds like 2008 BC. Since then I been visiting Iceland every year a few times but its gotten a bit boring lately. So.. I began my search for my new Iceland!! Lemme introduce you to Utah!!
Lets be clear, I still love Iceland and will visit it every year once but not twice like I used to. I still have places to see but here is my guide on why you should consider visiting Utah
Unknown Landmark
This place has many names but still remains unnamed on google maps. A fellow climber gave up this location for me.
Visiting Utah instead of Iceland may offer several unique experiences and benefits, depending on your interests and preferences. Here are a few reasons why you might consider Utah:
Diverse Landscapes: Utah is home to the "Mighty 5" National Parks: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion. These parks feature varied landscapes, including stunning red rock formations, dramatic canyons, towering arches, and verdant forests.
Outdoor Recreation: Utah is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. There are ample opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and whitewater rafting. You might also enjoy the amazing off-road trails in places like Moab.
History and Culture: Utah offers a rich cultural history. You can explore the state's Native American heritage, see ancient petroglyphs, or learn about the Mormon pioneers at historical sites and museums.
Cost: Traveling to Utah, especially if you're based in the United States, may be more cost-effective than going to Iceland. Flights are typically less expensive, and costs like food, accommodation, and activities may also be cheaper.
Ease of Travel: Utah has a well-developed road network, making it easy to travel by car or RV. You can easily explore multiple parks and cities in a single trip, offering a more diverse experience.
Climate: Depending on the time of year, Utah may offer more predictable and warm weather. Iceland's weather can be unpredictable and change rapidly, even in the summer months.
Wildlife: Utah is home to a variety of wildlife, including elk, deer, and a variety of bird species. Wildlife enthusiasts may enjoy spotting these species in their natural habitats.
It's worth noting that Iceland also has its own unique appeal, with its spectacular geothermal hot springs, glaciers, waterfalls, and the chance to see the Northern Lights. Both Utah and Iceland offer unique experiences, and the decision should be based on your personal interests and priorities.
